It's not hard to figure out that I'm a do-it-yourself kind of girl! I love to mix ideas around & test out new designs, geez, my whole life is like a never ending arts & craft hour at camp. However, there is a time & place for everything and there are millions of things I'll do myself and there are about 5 things I do and would (if available) pay someone to do.

Let me say, pumping gas is number 1 on my list. What in the WORLD happened to full-service gas stations? I admit, I'm too young to even remember full-service gas stations but boy would I love for them to come back in 2010.

My number 2, grocery shopping. I don't know how I would pay someone else to do this for me because I have to walk every aisle to help me "remember" what I went to the grocery store for in the first place. But where there's a will there's a way and I might just need to find me a personal grocery store assistant!? Yea, right after I buy that ocean front property.

Number 3, albeit ridiculous, I would pay someone to fold my laundry. Nope, no need for a maid, I'm good on everything else which needs to be cleaned, I just hate folding & hanging laundry. I swear, no sooner than you get it all put away, there it is again, another pile of laundry. It's insane. I stand in my closet for hours wondering what to wear, so it can't be that I have too many clothes (no matter what my hubby says), but somehow I end up with thousands of dirty clothes weekly...I think it's a conspiracy.

4th would have to be cooking. Geez, I know I just made some hundreds of women cringe. Probably my husband too. But let me defend myself by saying that I live with two of the pickiest boys in the world. My son would eat peanut butter & jelly for every meal, every day if I would let him. And the hubby, well, I'll say this, nothing mixed together (that includes anything with "cream of ______" in it, no condiments, no beans & no soups. So that pretty much leaves us with starches & meat. I never enjoyed cooking, but being limited to meat, potatoes & macaroni & cheese is just down right boring. So, I would much rather go out to eat, everyone order what they want and leave with no dishes to wash - for breakfast, lunch & dinner. Absolute perfection.

Finally, the point of my blog? Number 5, Event Planning. I, being such a do-it-yourselfer, stress to the max when planning anything. I think everything should go flawlessly and there's no room for less than fabulous. Which I must confess, although I love attending events, I'm not an event planner. It's a little like dinner, I love to eat, just don't want to cook it. I want to sit down, be served the most perfect meal for my taste, maybe enjoy a live band while I eat & walk away with pure satisfaction. Ditto to event planning. Thus, I bring you, Top2Bottom Events. {I told you there was a point to my rambling!}

Top2Bottom Events is owned by Makenzie Cafaro of Birmingham, Alabama.

OMG - It's baaaaaccckkk!

Every year, I really think I might grow out of it. Then, the season premier comes on and I'm glued. Why in the world is it sooooo much fun to laugh at the people on American Idol for the first few weeks during auditions? Because, it's funny as all get out, that's why!!

Seriously, whether they are faking just to be on TV or not, there are some contestants that just require being played back on Tivo over and over again. And again.

I mean, I get it, my husband jokes all the time that he is going to go try out for American Idol. I really think he thinks it would be funny to audition. Our son even went to school and told his friends that his dad was going to audition for AI, but that he wouldn't win. Bless. Thankfully, my husband will not be auditioning, Ever. But, fortunately for us, there are thousands of poor souls out there that obviously do not have a single friend or family member to deter them from embarrassing themselves on National Television, faking or not.

I really used to hate all of the audition-drama...but it has grown on me. Because, I realize there are people out there that truly think they can sing - and even their family might think they can sing...well enough to not tell them the truth - and somehow I'm completely amused by learning their life story before hearing them belt out an impossible song....that they never had a chance with. One of my favorite people tonight was the chick auditioning that had a horrible voice, ok, we will give her a pass on that one, maybe her family forgot to tell her that she can't sing. But she had on a tank top 2 sizes too small, with a muffin top that I thought was going to burst through our TV screen at any moment. Then, in the pre-audition interview, she insisted on jumping up and down in the restroom, because it "pumped her up." Again, where are her friends & family? I mean, if they can't find the words to tell her she's a bad singer, couldn't they at least suggest that she refrain from flashing her well-done muffin top all over TV?! But, then again, what fun would THAT be?

And this is only the beginning...we have many more weeks of train wrecks to watch. I'll try to share my faves each week.

Do you have a favorite train wreck from American Idol? Please share with us!

XO,
Melissa
